9/11

I can't help but remember that morning. My husband was laid-off from his job, due to a work related accident, and his brother-in-law D called us and was hollering "Turn on CNN, an airplane just hit the World Trade Center!"
The first thing out of my mouth was "Damn Terrorists." Little did I know how prophetic that simple thought would be.
We got up and went to the living room and turned on CNN. I went and woke up my mom and told her what had happened. Soon we were all glued to the TV, switching back and forth between MSN, FOX, CNN, and Dan Rather on CBS. We didn't move all day.
We had finally settled on Dan Rather when he made the announcement about the members of the FDNY and NYPD who had perished. While we had spent most of the day in stunned silence, this was too much, I couldn't stop the tears that just poured for all of those brave men and women that I had never met.
We will never forget.
