IT'S OFFICIAL--HELL HAS FROZEN OVER!!!

University of Kentucky Football Wildcats beat OLE MISS 31-14 in UK's SEC opener today!!!!!!
Not celebrating (because I just don't have time for UK's athletic program)-just ASTONISHED!!!!
UK hasn't won a conference opener in 19 YEARS. Even the players are shocked.
Now don't be thinking that I am disloyal to the home team, I just lost interest soooo long ago.
UK athletics lost my interest about the time Rick Pitino left the basketball team to go coach the Celtics. Biggest mistake of his life. Really broke my heart. In case you are from some where outside of the Bluegrass-UK Basketball is the number one obsession by every living, breathing human who calls KY home.
But I digress......
Anyway, I got tired of rooting for teams of young people who weren't from Kentucky, but were representing our state and not doing a very good job at it.
I know that the athletic directors try to recruit the best possible players from all states, but please-basketball is life for so many young men and women in Kentucky, I really feel like we would be better served trying to recruit from home first. That said, something about big-time college sports just doesn't sit well with me at any rate. I remember the father of one recruit from my hometown (by a much smaller school), told us that his son felt that the players were pretty much treated like a pieces of meat.
Give me NASCAR any day. IT's all about the money and they make no secret of it.
Be sure to watch the race tomorrow on TNT-Kevin Harvick has the pole.
