I'm No Stranger To The Rain by Keith Whitley
I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm a friend of thunder
Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me
I've fought with the devil
Got down on his level
But I never gave in, so he gave up on me
I'm no stranger to the rain
I can spot bad weather
And I'm good at finding shelter in a downpour
I've been sacrificed by brothers
Crucified by lovers
But through it all I withstood the pain
I'm no stranger to the rain
But when I get that foggy feeling
When I'm feeling down
If I don't keep my head up, I may drown
But it's hard to keep believing
I'll even come out even
While the rain beats your hope in the ground
And tonight it's really coming down
I'm no stranger to the rain
But there'll always be tomorrow
And I'll beg, steal, or borrow a little sunshine
And I'll put this cloud behind me
That's how the Man designed me
To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane
I'm no stranger to the rain
Oh, no, I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm no stranger to the rain
I'm a friend of thunder
Friend, is it any wonder lightning strikes me
But I'll put this cloud behind me
That's how the Man designed me
To ride the wind and dance in a hurricane
I'm no stranger to the rain
Oh, no, I'm no stranger to the rain

This is absolutely one of my all-time favorite songs. Read the lyrics.
"While the rain beats your hope in the ground"-that is so profound.
Haven't we all been in the position where you just feel the world is having a darn good time beating you up and pounding the heck out of you?
This song always gives me hope.
I would have posted a link to a video, but sadly the one I did find on YouTube couldn't be embedded, and I looked around on several different places for Keith Whitley videos and they are as rare as hen's teeth. That really upsets me, because this man was such an amazing singer and songwriter.
I was a big Keith Whitley fan when he was alive. I was especially proud of him since he was from Eastern Kentucky and had become a success. We Kentuckians are proud of our own.
I remember the afternoon that his death made the news. I was a senior in high school, my mom and I had gone out to eat at our local Shoney's and the radio station we were listening to was playing "I'm No Stranger To The Rain." When the song ended, we were ready to get out of the car and go in the restaurant when the DJ announced that "was the late, great Keith Whitley" and went to commercial. We looked at each other with our mouths hanging open in disbelief. This couldn't be true. I said "Let's go to the pay phone in the restaurant and call the radio station." We did, and the DJ told me that Keith had been found dead in his Nashville home.
So tragic, so sad. Keith Whitley will always be missed, and it is a crying shame that his videos aren't posted on CMT or GAC, and only three are posted on Yahoo.

You and I must be kindred spirits. I absolutely LOVE this song, but I love his "When You Say Nothing At All" too. He had a way of putting pure emotion in his voice, which is a very rare thing. His songs were straight from the heart, and not straight from the hip like most of the crap you hear these days on the radio.
I'm glad you posted this, and I'm glad too that Lorrie Morgan is doing well. She's a good singer in her own right, IMO, and I was glad her career went so well after she lost her husband.
