Sadness

Friends, I am so heartbroken today.
My really good friends Steve & Tiffany were called early Sunday morning to come and pick up a baby girl to adopt. They already have three biological children but feel that the Lord has called upon them to open up their home to give a child a Christian upbringing. They already made an application to adopt a baby girl from China, since the wait is two to three years they decided to make an application here in the states as well.
The kids were over the moon, their daughter was especially delighted to finally have a baby sister.
This afternoon they got the phone call. The birth mother wants the baby back. Now mind you this gal could not be bothered enough to even get the most basic prenatal care, or even to find out the sex of the baby once it was born. But on a whim she can tear up a family.
They have to return the child today.
I am sick over this, but I am sure no where near as upset as Tiffany.

I won't even go into the fact that our country rewards gals who want to lay around popping out kids every nine months, and how that makes me so angry.
Our government rewards them with free housing, medical care, food stamps and a monthly cash payment. The government will also reward them with grants to go to the local community college, and pay for a baby sitter while they are there.
You don't want to know how many of these gals I have seen milk the system for that money for years and then before they finish college they pop out another kid.
It is a sickening system and it makes me angry that it encourages young women to keep children that they aren't emotionally or financially equipped to raise properly. Being ill-prepared for parenthood then they end up either abusing or neglecting the child. In a few years the whole damn cycle starts over again, when this kid will pop out one of its own at a young age.
I'm tired of it.
When do the decent tax-paying citizens get to say ENOUGH?
OK- I'll shut up now, but if you have a heart at all, please pray for this family, and especially pray for the precious baby girl who is going to an uncertain future.

As an adopted child myself, I really feel for them and for the child.

You know, this? Is why I would never adopt in-country. Because adoptive parents have NO rights, whatsoever. None.

I feel so bad for them and hope their grief someday lessens.

My prayers go out to the family, and to this child! What kind of environment will she grow up in now? Sounds like she was about to go into a loving, stable home.
