Look ma no cavities!

The Lord is so good to me.
People I went to the dentist today to have my teeth cleaned.
Nothing earth shattering about that except it had been seven years since I had seen them. SEVEN years people!!
I truly dreaded going today. I will confess something here. Since my son arrived, there are days I don't get to brush my teeth.
Hell, most days, I am lucky to be able to have time to go pee.
So I totally expected every tooth in my head to just be rotten with cavities.
Dr. Ballou came in and said "You went somewhere else in those seven years didn't you?"
"NO" I told him. He was astonished.
He continued to question me. "What happened?"
I told him, just life, taking care of my mom, and then the Lord's blessing and surprise of our son.
He laughed and said, "Yeah, I know what you mean, one day you wake up and you are sixty."
I said "Yes, do you realize that Elvis has been dead 31 years?"
He groaned.
Fortunately, I had no cavities! NO CAVITIES!!!
So like I said, the Lord is good. Thank you Father for taking care of me while I am taking care of everyone else.

That is awesome. I went to my usual 6-month appointment, after brushing maybe twice in that time, and my teeth actually looked better than last time. Yeah.

The years fly by, and the last thing we moms might think of is the dentist!

Thanks for stopping by my blog with the HS link. I really appreciate it. I could use some of your mountain woman strength!

There's bound to be a patron saint of teeth involved here.

It's nice to know I'm not alone. My reason for not visiting the dentist for 8 years was not because I was busy, it was just pure FEAR!

Luckily, same as you, I had no cavities. Whew! I had a lot of plaque in my four, front bottom teeth, (they are very close together and collect...hmm, TMI? that's gross, huh?), but no major problems.

I remembered something my brother told me when I was a little kid. I used to get a lot of cavities when I was younger to the point that my mom had a dentist put sealents on the top part of my bottom teeth in the back. My brothers never brushed their teeth and never got cavities. I was not happy. He told me: "That's because the new plaque can't get through the old plaque. That's why I don't get cavities."

Dumb? I dunno...8 years, no dentist, some of those years in the military when there also was no time to brush, (it's not always 9-5), and I had no cavities. Maybe my brother was on to something at that young age.

I should go again. It's been three years since my last visit. I have a fear of dentures, you would think I'd go religiously.
