I have wanted to write about something for a few weeks now, but just haven't been able to find the right words to express myself.

Yesterday Trailer Park Barbie wrote about the disgusting and tragic case of little Shaniya Davis and it has prompted me to write this no matter how incoherent it may be.

On October 23, 2009 little Stephen Carl Troy of Laurel County Kentucky was found unresponsive by his mother's boyfriend and he called 911. Little Stephen was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph Hospital. Foul play was immediately suspected. (follow the link to The Sentinel-Echo)

The autopsy showed Stephen had died when the arteries to his small intestine were ruptured and he bled internally, essentially bleeding out. Go to that link that starts with "Foul". That gives the grand jury testimony of the mother's boyfriend. It is sickening. She would punch the child and throw him.

But the most sickening part of this whole ordeal is that this isn't her first time as a child abuser. Oh no, gentle reader, at age 14 she gave birth to a little boy and somewhere along the line abused him causing injury. Michigan social services stepped in and took custody, terminating her parental rights. So what does any white trash ho do when faced with the loss of her meal ticket, she got pregnant again. Fortunately for the child, Michigan child services took the child immediately upon his birth. (again follow this link to the Times-Tribune)

So what's a poor teenager to do? Move to the hills of old Kan-tuck and have another child, the Michigan child services couldn't take her kid from her there.

Now from my mother having worked for the state for 30 years, I know there is nothing that can be done to prevent her from leaving one state and starting over in another.

Had the mother had a living child that she took from one state to another, yes, the child protection agencies of Michigan would have been under obligation to contact the Kentucky child protection agencies, but since there wasn't a child at the time of her move there was nothing that could be done.

I won't get into how I feel that the our whole welfare system encourages this kind of abuse that we the taxpayers have to foot the bill, in more ways than one. It has devalued the sanctity of life.

I won't get into how I know that social workers are the MOST maligned, underpaid, abused and overworked people on the planet, because they are. There simply aren't enough of them to go around.

It's as if life has no value anymore.

Social workers take away your kids, well just pop out another one.

I am angry, disgusted, and heartbroken.

Rest in peace precious Stephen. I am sorry that the adults in your life failed to protect you.

Heather...it just doesn't end, does it? Shaniya and now this report. What could cause such evil and cruelty in a person's life....especially a mother's? And, why does our government make it possible for crazy people like this to live off of taxpayers just for breeding? I don't get it. It's so sad and awful.
What really bothers me is that people have to SEE these things at some point. They just turn their heads. Like with the girl that got gang-raped and beaten up. People walked by and didn't bother to call the police or anyone.
I do know this....I WILL report anything that looks foul and cruel if I see it. I have done it in the past and would not hesitate to do it again. People need to wake up and protect these innocents.
I just don't get it.
Thanks for writing about this. As disturbing as it is, stories like this might never be told if not for individuals who are brave enough to write about them.

These kinds of stories tear me up, too, even moreso now that I have a little one of my own.

Awful, awful.

I hope she's sterilized. And that she suffers for the rest of her days.

these people (and those like them) should burn in hell...but that's just my opinion. after having two children of my own and knowing how truly special they are and bless i am, i can't fathom how a parent could do these things. makes me wonder how people like this are able to bear children and hundreds of thousands of women all over can't even have one child.

makes me sick...

Good grief. I am almost speechless to think of those mothers behaving like that to any child, let alone one of their own. I don't know what you do with them, but they cannot be allowed ever to have charge of a child again.

We have similar problems here. People know certain parents are going to offend again, but the regulations won't let them intervene until it's too late. I think we are placing too much emphasis on the rights of the parents and not enough on the rights of a child to live without fear and be properly cared for.
