I CAN NOT MAKE THIS CRAP UP!!

So tonight about 9P mother and I were sitting here at the asylum watching The Medium.
The boys were in the bedroom watching something.
It has rained all day long and just so you know there has been NO WORK done on the double wide in about two weeks. We were sitting here in the falling-down-around-our-heads-100-year -old-house.
We hear this noise out side, like a grinding then a crash. When the crash happened the power went off.
So I jumped up (or foisted my pregnant self up as best I could) and ran(waddled) to the door to see what was happening.
At first thought the power pole on the main road had been hit. Looking a little bit longer it was obvious that the pole hadn't come down. What did happen was a drunk 16 year old driver had skidded through our yard and hit the guide wire from the pole with such force that it pulled the electric wires from our electric meter.
The KU people were here in a timely fashion but they are not legally allowed to reconnect them.
So we will have to wait until a certified electrician* can come and hook the wires back up, then it has to be inspected before KU can reconnect the power. So our electrician has to work his day job tomorrow but will be here about 3:30 or so. I pray this predicted snow will pass us by.
I simply do not know how much more I can cope with.
Fortunately, when we built our garage last year, we had it hooked up with a different electric meter and it didn't get pulled out. My husband has run some cords to from the garage to the house to so that we could get the net and the TV and our heat going. Lets pray that everything goes well tomorrow and we can get it all hooked back up.

*It's times like this when I miss my grand-daddy the most. In addition to being a coal-miner he was also a certified electrician. He would be on the roof fixing this right now.

*************************************************************************************
UPDATE-Our electrician was able to make it out about 1P, so he fixed the weather-head and wiring back to the meter box, the inspector came and at 3:39 PM EST, KU reconnected us! Fortunately everything in the freezers was still nicely frozen! Yay!!

I hope everything is okay. How cold is it there? Be careful of carbon monoxide if you're using gas heaters. Okay, 'nuff of me being a nag.

Lady, You have more crazy stuff happen than ten other people I know. Forget blogging, you need to write a BOOK. Thank God everything worked out and y'all are all safe an warm.

Wow .. scary! And also very irritating! I'm glad you were able to get some power up and running temporarily.

Was the young driver OK? Perhaps it will help to teach him that alcohol and cars don't mix too well. One can only hope!

Yes, Virgil, I don't know why I am so "special"!
Mom even complained that "We don't bother anyone, and are content to stay at home, but somehow chaos always finds us!"
At times I feel like I have a big target on my back!
