Mom Update & Prayer Request

Mom got to come home from the hospital today.   Her BUN is at 68 and her creatnine was 4.4 today.  Her nephrologist feels like her kidneys had not functioned properly for approximately five months so it may take another five for them to normalize themselves.  So please keep praying for her.
She is pretty weak.  She had trouble walking up the steps and fell when we got on the porch.  Fortunately Todd and I were holding her on each side so she did not fall hard.  She is having difficulty walking due to her feet and ankles being so swollen.
Home health is coming tomorrow and will be getting her a walker to use.
Please just keep us in your prayers.
God Bless,

Mom update 3/1/11

Mom's creatnine and BUN levels are still up.
The creatnine was 4.6 on Sunday, and came down to 4.4 yesterday.  The doctors have her on fluid restrictions and that is really driving her nuts.  They did take her catheter out last night but she hasn't been able to void yet, mainly because she has been asleep.  Evidently when deprived of all but the smallest amounts of water the kidneys are supposed to kick back in and start working again, this is what her doctor feels sure will happen, I am praying he is right!
The nephrologist mentioned maybe letting her go home tomorrow (well today now since it's 1:39 AM).
So please keep praying that her creatnine and BUN levels come down and her kidneys are healthy
Thank you & God Bless.

Update & Prayer Request

Mom's surgery went well, but the stents were not what was causing the issues with her kidneys.
Her BUN(blood urea nitrogen) and Creatnine levels keep going up.  And dialysis has been mentioned.
As you go to church tomorrow please lift her up in prayer.
Ask the Lord to help her kidneys to function properly, help her to be healthy, strong and come home to us soon.  She is the heart of our family and we love and miss her.
Today is her birthday, and I'm getting ready to go back to the hospital to stay with her.
God Bless,

Update 2/22/11

Mom is doing ok. This morning her kidney doctor was in and he feels like her increased BUN and Creatnine levels are due to the stents being obstructed and that her kidneys are not failing worse than what they are already. He feels like once the stents are changed out that her kidneys will go back to their normal levels. He's really positive.

Her urologist will be changing her stents tomorrow, and while she is under her oncologist will go in for a look as well. We don't have a time yet for surgery as they are having to work her in.

This morning Mom's oncologist, said that it was basically it a miracle that she was alive since her cancer was a stage 4, her heart issue, kidney issues, etc. We agreed that it is a miracle. I know that everything and every day is a gift from God.

Please pray for a good result tomorrow, the cancer is contained or even gone, her kidneys healthy, no issues with anesthesia and a quick recovery.

Thanks & God Bless,

Heather Page

PS-speaking of the Lord's miracles-baby girl stood up today. Remember according to the doctors before her birth she wasn't supposed to have use of her legs.

Prayer Request

Mom has had to be admitted to Central Baptist.  She has a severe UTI along with all of her other health problems.
Please pray that she will rebound from this quickly and be healthy again.  I will be contacting her specialist to come here in the morning, since she was supposed to see him this week about having her kidney stents replaced.

Home again, home again, bloggity blog!

Dudes, oh duuudes, I am so tired!!
Last night before mom's surgery, I could not go to sleep. I even took a total of four benedryl-the main ingredient in Tylenol PM & Sominex.
Mom woke up at 1:30AM with heartburn, so I had to put in a call to the doctor on call to see if she could take anything, since she was restricted to nothing after midnight. I also let her have about six ounces of 7-up to try and settle her stomach.
About three I was able to drop off to sleep, at 3:30AM I was awakened to the sounds of mom throwing up. So all of the 7-up came back up, so it wasn't an issue for the surgery(but we did tell the nurses and all of the doctors for safety).
After checking on mom I was able to drop back off to sleep, about 4:00AM, we had a wake up call for 4:30, but I didn't wake up until, ten til five. I don't think the phone rang or if it did, I was so tired I didn't hear it.
So she had the surgery and I went all day long without a nap or anything.
So when we got home Todd and I went to look at mobile homes, and we signed paperwork to buy one. I will tell you all more about that later.
We came back home and ate the pizza I had brought from Lexington. I sat down on the couch and conked out. So did mom.
I woke up around 8:30PM and went strait to bed. I said my prayers and I am still awake nearly five hours later at 1:05AM!!!
So frustrating!

Update-Penelope's surgery went well. Since she spent last night throwing up, they decided not to intubate and instead do a spinal block, so we are waiting for that to wear off and then we can go home. The doctor said everything looked really good with her kidneys.
Thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts!
God Bless!

We are at the hotel in Lexington. Today has been so draining!
I am tired and can't put my thoughts together that well- so I will tell you about it later.
We have to be at Central Baptist in the morning at 5:30AM.
Her surgery is scheduled to begin at 7:30AM.
Please pray that all goes well.
God Bless!

It's 2:13 AM and it's snowing!--UPDATED!!

So today my mom has an appointment to start her radiation treatments.
Today's will be a "dry-run" to make sure that all of her marks are still in place with
actual treatment beginning tomorrow.
We have to be in Lexington at 1:00 and I am getting a little freaked out.
Miss Maizie went out to potty about an hour ago and the roads are covered with snow.
UGH!
Lexington got 2 and 3/4 inches of snow today on top of the ice that had not melted from last week.
Pray that we have a safe trip.

Thank you so much for your prayers!
Due to the fact that I-75 is slick from London to Lexington, the doctor let us reschedule for tomorrow.
If you click on that link, there are the slippery icons all the way up I-75!

The doctor's office called this morning and told us to come on to the outpatient center, so they could take her early.
So we are here.
Say a quick prayer that they are successful and she doesn't have a problem when they put her under.
Thanks so much.
God Bless!
