Mom Update & Prayer Request

Mom came through her surgery beautifully and the new stents are finally allowing her kidneys to heal. Her BUN(blood urea nitrogen) level has come down four points to 40 and her creatnine level is down to 3.04. She still has the terrible edema, so hopefully(prayerfully) if her kidneys recover to their normal, they can add back the diuretics for the mild congestive heart failure.
The UTI infection is causing her to have some moments of confusion.
I know that the Lord is working and is hearing your prayers.

Please keep praying that infection and edema are driven from her body.

Thank you & God Bless,

Mom Update & Prayer Request

Mom has to have stent replacement surgery later this morning(don't have a set time yet, hospital will be calling me). She had both stents replaced in March, but the left one has gotten blocked and is causing the left kidney to be swollen.  Hopefully this will help her kidneys to heal.
Please keep her in your prayers for a successful procedure and recovery.

Thank you & God Bless,

Mom prayer request

Mom's edema has been worsening and the home health nurse just called her doctor and they want her taken to the ER.

So please keep us in your prayers.

Please ask that her kidney function returns to normal to remove this fluid from her body.

Also please ask that she is protected from the nephrologists at our local hospital(we have serious doubts about his competency and motives).

Because her mobility is limited I can't get her to her regular nephrologist in Lexington, so it has to be our local hospital(Ky law dictates that ambulance has to take to closest hosp).

Thank you all. God Bless.

Mom Update & Prayer Request

Mom got to come home from the hospital today.   Her BUN is at 68 and her creatnine was 4.4 today.  Her nephrologist feels like her kidneys had not functioned properly for approximately five months so it may take another five for them to normalize themselves.  So please keep praying for her.
She is pretty weak.  She had trouble walking up the steps and fell when we got on the porch.  Fortunately Todd and I were holding her on each side so she did not fall hard.  She is having difficulty walking due to her feet and ankles being so swollen.
Home health is coming tomorrow and will be getting her a walker to use.
Please just keep us in your prayers.
God Bless,
Heather Page

Mom update 3/1/11

Mom's creatnine and BUN levels are still up.
The creatnine was 4.6 on Sunday, and came down to 4.4 yesterday.  The doctors have her on fluid restrictions and that is really driving her nuts.  They did take her catheter out last night but she hasn't been able to void yet, mainly because she has been asleep.  Evidently when deprived of all but the smallest amounts of water the kidneys are supposed to kick back in and start working again, this is what her doctor feels sure will happen, I am praying he is right!
The nephrologist mentioned maybe letting her go home tomorrow (well today now since it's 1:39 AM).
So please keep praying that her creatnine and BUN levels come down and her kidneys are healthy
Thank you & God Bless.

Update & Prayer Request

Mom's surgery went well, but the stents were not what was causing the issues with her kidneys.
Her BUN(blood urea nitrogen) and Creatnine levels keep going up.  And dialysis has been mentioned.
As you go to church tomorrow please lift her up in prayer.
Ask the Lord to help her kidneys to function properly, help her to be healthy, strong and come home to us soon.  She is the heart of our family and we love and miss her.
Today is her birthday, and I'm getting ready to go back to the hospital to stay with her.
God Bless,
Heather Page

Update 2/22/11

Mom is doing ok. This morning her kidney doctor was in and he feels like her increased BUN and Creatnine levels are due to the stents being obstructed and that her kidneys are not failing worse than what they are already. He feels like once the stents are changed out that her kidneys will go back to their normal levels. He's really positive.

Her urologist will be changing her stents tomorrow, and while she is under her oncologist will go in for a look as well. We don't have a time yet for surgery as they are having to work her in.

This morning Mom's oncologist, said that it was basically it a miracle that she was alive since her cancer was a stage 4, her heart issue, kidney issues, etc. We agreed that it is a miracle. I know that everything and every day is a gift from God.

Please pray for a good result tomorrow, the cancer is contained or even gone, her kidneys healthy, no issues with anesthesia and a quick recovery.

Thanks & God Bless,

Heather Page

PS-speaking of the Lord's miracles-baby girl stood up today. Remember according to the doctors before her birth she wasn't supposed to have use of her legs.

Prayer Request

Mom has had to be admitted to Central Baptist.  She has a severe UTI along with all of her other health problems.
Please pray that she will rebound from this quickly and be healthy again.  I will be contacting her specialist to come here in the morning, since she was supposed to see him this week about having her kidney stents replaced.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Penny had to spend it, as well as New Years in the hospital.

The doctors had been transitioning her to come home until yesterday. She had another bout of arrhythmia and had to be moved back into a room where she could be more closely monitored. She just wants to come home, and we want her home, so this getting a little frustrating for us.

Last night Paddy saw a commercial for Plavix and asked 'if we could get some of that and take it to Pen so she could come home', I told him the doctor was giving her that already.

I know she would not have made it this far without your prayers and the hand of the Lord. Please pray that she is well enough to come home soon. We are just lost without her.

Thank you & God Bless,

Prayer Request and Update 12/22/10

The doctor had ordered mom to be released this evening, but when the nurses tried walking her, she started having bloody diarrhea.

So tomorrow afternoon, her GI doctor will be doing a colonoscopy. Please pray that there is nothing wrong with her and this blood is just something minor.

Her heart is doing well, as is the bladder infection. Your prayers and the Lord have brought her so far. I really feel like she would not have made it with them. Please keep praying.

Thanks so much & God Bless,

Heather Page

Mom update 12/21/10

Mom was doing well enough this morning to be moved out of the CCU into a regular room.

She is on the mend but still weak.

Please keep praying that she improves and is able to come home soon.

Mom update

Mom is doing pretty well today. Her blood pressure is up a little so they will be using some different medications.
The infection is healing, her white count is still coming down.
So hopefully and prayerfully we have passed the biggest hurdles so far.
We do need to keep praying that her atrial fibrillation is able to be controlled with this new medication.
Also pray that she doesn't have any issues from the bowel tests that they are running.
With your prayers and the Lord's intervention she has come so far, the worst is behind us. Please just keep praying!
God Is Great!
God Bless,
Heather Page

Mom update

We've had a good night, she was able to sleep and her heart rates were good and under control. Her body temp is back to normal.
Some of her blood levels were concerning the doctors that she may have had an ischemic bowel attack. They did a CT scan last night and everything looked good in her abdomen. However her internist told me this morning that she did not have a mild heart attack but a major one, in addition to the severe urinary infection.
The low body temperature from yesterday was a reaction to the infection, and she could have gone into sepsis. Hopefully that is now under control, as her white count is coming down. She had a small amount of bleeding yesterday, but the gynecologist that came in to check her did not find any more blood and thought that something may have been nicked when they inserted the catheter to cause the bleeding. Because of the bleeding they did not give her any more blood thinners than what she had already had in the ER. This was of such concern to the cardiologist, that he told me she may not make it.
I know that you are praying for her, otherwise we would not have had such a good night, and positive turn around. The Lord is working here, I can feel it.
The first 24 hours are the most critical for a heart-attack patient and we should hit that mark about 10:30 this morning.
Please keep praying that she continues to improve.

God Bless,
Heather

Penny update

I know your prayers are working. They have been able to get Penny's heart calmed with medications. Her body temp is coming up. Please keep praying, be sure to ask that the infection is controlled and she doesn't get sepsis. Love to all of you and God Bless!
Heather

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

I had to bring my mom Penny to Baptist Corbin this morning. The tests are showing that she has had a mild heart attack yesterday and that she has a bad bladder infection and her blood is low. Also her core temperature was 94 degrees. They will be moving her to the ICU shortly.
Please pray-
-for the Lord to drive this infection from her body
-bring her temp, kidney, and bladder functions back to normal.
-that any blood products that have to be used are safe.
-for her heart to be healthy and strong
-for the cancer to be driven from her body.
We love her and we need her.
Thank you and God Bless,
Heather

We got to come home from the hospital on Nov. 15.  However we came home with a PIC line and two very high powered antibiotics to go through it.  We had a check-up with the pediatric infectious disease specialist last week and they gave her a clean bill of health.  God is so good.

Baby girl update

The night before the surgery Penelope turned all the way over in her crib.  She just giggled and giggled, then she turned some more, giggling all the way.  Then she promptly fell asleep.  It was the cutest thing.  I am completely amazed with everything this baby is going through that she just smiles and smiles at everyone.  She is such a blessing.  I've had so many of the nurses tell me that seeing her smile is just the highlight of their day.
Her surgery went very well.  The doctor replaced the patch, ( I thought he was just going to remove all of them-that's what I get for listening to one of the residents-or maybe I'm so tired I just misunderstood) and installed a drain tube to keep the stitches from leaking and getting wet.
Tonight my husband came to bring me some clean clothes and brought Paddycake with him.  Penelope was so happy to see him.  Paddycake was very antsy while he was here and had a hard time sitting still.  They stayed here for a about an hour before they had to go back home.  About 20 minutes after they left, my cell phone rings and husband tells me that Paddy is hysterical saying 'he should be the one whose sick and he wanted to stay with Mom and Penelope.'  I told him that the kid was probably just sleepy, and he would hush soon.  He fell asleep as soon as they got on the interstate.  I just want to be home with my family.
Tomorrow (11/9/10) they are going to put in a PIC line for her IVs.  At this point I'm beginning to feel like we are NEVER getting out of this hospital.  Quite frankly, I'm going a little nuts and I'm so far beyond tired my brain is just mush!

So please continue to pray for us-

1. For Penelope to have a quick and full recovery.

2. For my mom Penny's cancer to be driven from her body, so she can be healthy and strong.

3. For me to have the strength, and stamina to endure this hospital stay. I'm beginning to feel like I have a sinus infection coming on.

Urgent Prayer Request

11/7/10
They have the results from Penelope's cultures she has two kinds of staph in her spinal fluid from this most recent surgery. Today her fever was 100.5. The infectious disease doctor wants the bovine graft patch taken out because her body is fighting it. The neurologists don't want to take the patch out. I am in the... camp with the Infectious disease doctor because she can't stay on IV antibiotics forever.

11/08/10
This morning, she has developed yet another bacteria(score-bacteria 3 antibiotics 2), so the neuros finally see the light and have acquiesced to remove all of the grafts.  She will be having surgery sometime this afternoon and they will be installing a drain.  Once all of the infections clear, then she will have to have another repair surgery.
Please pray-
For surgery success with no complications
For the infection to be driven from her body
To guide Dr. Owen and his team to do what is best for Penelope.
For Penny to have the cancer driven from her body and the osteoporosis fracture pain to be soothed.
For me to have the stamina, patience, & strength for a longer stay in the hospital.

Surgery went great!

Penelope's surgery went great!  She's now back in the room.  I'm letting her sleep because she will want me to hold her and we need to keep her flat for a while.  If everything goes well, we could get to go home Saturday.
God Bless!
Penelope is having surgery today to repair the incision.  Will post more as I know.
