Ted Kennedy 1932-2009

I will be praying for the Kennedy family this morning.
I did not agree with "Uncle Teddy's"socialist bent at all, but today, I am not going into any of that.
Cancer is hateful, cruel and downright evil.
I'm sorry that Ted had to go through that, I'm sorry that any one has to go through it.
Ted Kennedy did a lot for our country and I am sorry that he is gone.
Today please join me as I remember and pray for the family of Mary Jo Kopechne, as well.

Michael Jackson, Farrah & BILLYMAYS!

Well the Grim Reaper was super busy last week and this weekend.
All I'm going to say about Michael Jackson is, I find it terribly sad that he was exploited as a child and then in turn grew up to sexually exploit children. The man had a horrible life even if he did get his wish of being the most famous man on earth. At least his suffering is over and he can't harm any more children.
Since his death the media keeps reporting how his records have sold and MJ is probably going to be worth more dead than alive. I really can't help but think of poor Elvis.
When Elvis died he had only about $100,000 or so in the bank and quite a bit of debt. Fortunately his father Vernon asked former daughter in law Priscilla to take a hand in helping to organize the estate so that Lisa Marie would have something to inherit. Say what you want about her, but Priscilla found some really qualified people and helped to build Graceland and Elvis Presley Enterprises into a really successful business.
I would hope that who ever is the administrator of MJ's estate, will find a good team to take care of his holdings, but I doubt it. He supported his entire family, not to mention a whole cadre of lawyers and who knows who else-bunch of leeches. Like I said-it's just sad.
I won't tell you how I had a Michael Jackson jacket in seventh grade. I wish I still had it, they are selling for quite a bit on ebay now.

We were really saddened by the death of Farrah Fawcett, she was always so beautiful. We really wanted her to beat cancer. Watching her documentary on NBC the other night, they showed Farrah after her hair started falling out. My mom came to tears and said well if Farrah can live with out her hair, so can I. That was something that had worried her ever since her own cancer diagnosis.
Right now we are watching the WGN tribute to Farrah, her episodes of Charlie's Angels. Remember the furor over that show when it was popular? How the world was going to HE$$ because of the jiggling T & A. As I sit here watching it, it seems POSITIVELY WHOLESOME!

So I turned on the computer this afternoon and see that BILLYMAYS has died!!
Dudes how are we going to live without BILLYMAYS screaming at us to buy Orange Glo or OxyClean? Seriously he is the reason my remote control's mute button is nearly worn out!!

So that's it for now. Will try to talk to ya later!

Actress Natasha Richardson died yesterday after being taken off of life support.
I can not tell you how much this has upset me. I did not know her. Her last name was the same as my mom's maiden name, even though we weren't even remotely related.
Reading the news reports of the accident, she fell in supposedly soft snow, but got up laughing and joked about being klutzy, was checked out by the ski patrol and went back to her hotel room. About an hour later, she complained of a pounding headache and was rushed to the hospital.
What upsets me about this, is I can not tell you how many times I have fallen and hit my head.
In fact just on January 27 when the big ice storm hit, I fell on the ice and hit my head. I mean I am a first class klutz, and falling is something I do quite a lot, but I never go to the hospital.
Due to an old head injury and back injury sustained in 1997, I have horrible balance. Add to that crazy sinus and ear issues, I guess I am lucky I can walk. Just don't ask me to walk a straight line, even though I rarely drink alcohol.
I'm so sad for Natasha's family. Her children were with on the slopes when she fell. I will be praying for them tonight.
But this has really shaken me. Could my next fall send me to my heavenly home?
I'm not afraid of dying, but I don't want to leave my son.
Then again, I do have to remember that nothing here is in our hands. It's not up to me when I leave, it's up to G-d.
But I'm still freaked out!

Isaac Hayes & Bernie Mac

Bernie Mac 1957-2008
Specter Death had a very busy weekend.
What can I say about Bernie Mac that hasn't been said already? Probably not much.
I loved his show.
It was so refreshing to see a parent(even if he was the uncle), trying to impart traditional values in this modern world. Usually the show would have Uncle Bernie exasperated over something the kids were doing, but ultimately he would let the kids know how much he loved them.
Honestly, I don't know if I will ever hear anything as funny as him telling the kids "he would beat them till the white meat showed." What can I say I have a sick sense of humor.

Isaac Hayes 1942-2008
Specter Death wasn't done yet, he then went after one of my favorite performers Isaac Hayes.
Earlier this summer, I caught a two part episode of The Rockford Files on the Sleuth channel where Isaac was the guest star. He was an awesome actor. More than that he was a dynamite song writer and producer, winning an Oscar for his "Theme From Shaft". He even co-wrote the hit song "Hold On, I'm Coming" for Sam & Dave.
The saddest news of all is that Isaac leaves a two year old son, in addition to 11 other children.

George 1937-2008

George Carlin is gone(and if that doesn't make you feel ancient-nothing will).
There really isn't much more I can say about that, the man was a genius.
Even if he did use the "7 Words" he was still incredibly smart and funny.
His humor was always thought provoking.
REST IN PEACE GEORGE.

Donda West

I don't know if you have seen the news about Kanye West's mom, Donda West or not, or if you even care, but I had some thoughts about the situation that I just couldn't keep to myself.

For starters from what I have read about Donda, she was a Fulbright Scholar and had earned a doctorate. She was a former professor at Chicago State University and served as the chair of the English and Communications, Media Arts, and Theater department. When her son Kanye chose to turn his back on education which she had always emphasised for him, she supported his decision and eventually ended up managing his career.

So can someone please tell me why this obviously intelligent and accomplished woman could not celebrate herself as she was, but felt the need to be cut on and molded into the non-existent ideal of perfection that our society perpetuates?

I know all about how looking good does make you feel better and taking pride in one's appearance, but I just can not imagine dying for the cause of plastic surgery.

The heartbreaking thing about this is apparently this isn't the first time the doctor she used has made a mistake. He evidently has several malpractice judgements against him, has no malpractice insurance and has been picked up twice for DWI. Currently the California Medical Board was already looking to take away his license for this reason.

The sad thing is that it will be too late to save Kanye's mom. Just so very tragic.

"Fire up a colortini,....."

Just last week, I thought about how much I used to love Tom Snyder, so I looked him up on WikiPedia to make sure he was still around. I was comforted by the fact that he was but today came the news that he lost a battle with leukemia.
I loved the informality of his show, and they way he seemed genuinely interested in the answer and could follow up with more comments or questions. So many of the new "celebrity" types of journalists seem more interested in running down their list of prepared questions, that they really aren't listening to the answer.
Tom seemed to make his guests so comfortable, it was like the viewer was eavesdropping on two old buddies having a drink and passing the time. Golden tv moments. If you missed it you really missed some good interviews. I will never forget the chilling interviews he did with Robert Blake,a long time before the murder of the con-woman who he married.
Tom Snyder was one of the best-they just don't make 'em that way anymore.
"Fire up a colortini, sit back, relax and watch the pictures, now, as they fly through the air."

Goodbye Tammy Faye

This weekend we lost Tammy Faye Bakker Messner. She was just on Larry King Live, this past Thursday. She suffered so much, thankfully her sorrows are over. I never liked Tammy Faye until after she divorced Jim. Then she really showed a side of herself, that confirmed to me that she was indeed a true Christian. She really blossomed after ridding herself of Jim the parasite. She embraced people like Jim J. Bullock, Ron Jeremy and drag-queens as friends, not many Christians I have seen would do that. Rest well sweet lady, your work is done.

PETER BOYLE rest in peace

News came yesterday about the passing of actor Peter Boyle.
The man was such a magnificent actor. He really made Everybody Loves Raymond click.
The other characters on their own could be quite obnoxious, but he really brought the whole thing together.
I remember seeing him several years ago on some show talking about his friendship with John Lennon. When Peter married his wife Lorraine, John Lennon stood as his best man. He often talked about how much he missed John.
To see Peter on talk shows you would not believe he was the same man who played the bigoted father in Monster's Ball. Everyone who knew him tells what a kind, gentle man he was.
So Peter when you went to the white light I do hope your good buddy John was right there with open arms to greet you. GodSpeed Peter Boyle.
