Fresh Hell Follow-up

So I want to thank everyone for all of their well wishes concerning the SNAFU with my mother's retirement.
Just so you know, my mother is a retired STATE EMPLOYEE, in the trenches for nearly 30 years. She was often over-worked, underpaid and just in general stressed out. She could write a book about the graft, corruption and nepotism that caused a never-ending parade of mouth breathing losers and ding-bats through the office who got their job because their uncle(or lover) was a good ole boy drinkin' buddy of the administration of the day. Truly qualified people could not get jobs with the state unless they were friends with someone in power. Think Huey P. Long, or even The Godfather.
Lest you think ill of my dear mother, at the time she was hired, the state was desperate for qualified people and JFK had given the "Ask Not" speech, so being young, idealistic and fresh out of secretarial school, she thought it would be a wonderful way to help people by working for the state. Also remember this was before women's lib and people didn't send their daughters to college unless (in the lingo of the day) "it was to get an M-r-s. degree". Secretarial school would provide her with a nice way to support herself while trying to catch a husband, or at least that is what my grandparents thought.
Little did she know what it would become after she had too much time vested and financially couldn't walk away, because she was divorced and had me to support.*
The weasels at the capital assure me that they have corrected the mistake, but I am not holding my breath. She hasn't needed any prescriptions yet so keep your fingers crossed for us.

*The dead-beat dad who didn't support me in any way is a story for another day.

And what sort of compensation does she get for this headache?

Just wait until these very same people are the ones handling the healthcare.
